Teach Yourself VISUALLY Jewelry Making and Beading

I have bought tons of books on jewelry-making, and wish I had seen this one first. As far as learning from books goes (my favorite method), this book and the Beading Answer Book are the only two I need. Of course, I still have the TYV wire book and the bead weaving one on my public wish list. I love books.

The author of this book is so clear that I don't have to figure out what she's saying by actual practice, the way I do with others. The photos are the best I've ever seen. This book has chapters on design, stringing, weaving, wirework, using a jig, macrame, beginning and intermediate projects, and getting more training, even a short section on becoming a business.

Creative Beading Vol. 5: The Best Projects from a Year of Bead&Button Magazine

I just received my book in the mail and it is absolutely gorgeous!
Every page is big and filled with brightly colored, sharply focused photos of jewelry projects that will keep you busy for months if not years. You can choose from beading projects (stitching) using beads and buttons, or from wire-art jewelry projects, as well as other techniques.
Most of the jewelry designs are fairly complex in my opinion, but the publishers provided excellent photos, diagrams, and step-by-step instructions.

The Beading Answer Book

I'm a newbie to jewelry making, but have read several of the top-rated books on Amazon about it. "The Beading Answer Book" holds a lot of information in a small package (small enough to carry in a purse or bag). Morris answers many of the questions I had after reading the other books. The author has a background in repairing beaded jewelry, and several of the tips she gives are very useful for making more durable pieces.

One small annoyance: neither the written explanation or the (one) drawing of a figure-eight knot is enough for me to understand how to do it!

Jewelry Making & Beading For Dummies

This is an excellent introduction for beginning beaders and jewelry makers. It covers several different types of beading, including working with seed beads, wire wrapping, and creating clasps. It apparently, however, was either not edited at all or edited very poorly. Quality control for this book was abysmal. Too many of the instructions are confusing or just flat out wrong. For one earring project, the instructions, the line drawings, and the color photograph are all different. Which one is correct? For another project, the line drawings only make sense if you go from c to b to a, instead of the other way around.
